why is impossible to hear cue with effect enabled or eqaulization? it’s no good…same issue that have old series of Hallen&Heat now solved…who need a pre cue? no-one! a dj must hear output with effects on cue…
Given very few professional DJ mixers offer this I would say it’s just not something that is needed or widely requested by the DJ community.
Logically the Cue is pre-fader where many peoples preferred effects setup is post fader.
is not logic pre fader…every serious mixer from pioneer to hallen&heat are post…I must ear the real out before mix
Exactly, effects are applied to the music after the fader whereas the cue is applied before the fader, hence not hearing it.
As far as I’m aware you cannot hear effects in the headphones on any Pioneer mixer, and likely Allen and Heath too, for the reason above.
@NoiseRiser i think this something you would be able to comment on? hearing effects in the headphones on the various mixers, I believe it’s not possible? Maybe through the master cue?
According the manual for the DJM-900NXS2 (the ‘club standard’ mixer) you cannot hear the beat effects through the headphones, even if the Cue is selected for that channel, and that is also my experience with them over the years. Which ‘pro DJ mixers’ are you referring to?
The Prime 2 allows EQ monitoring in the headphones, ive just tested it on my own device, you cant hear the filter or FX though, but the EQ is definitely there.
As far as im aware, most Allen and Heath mixers dont have internal FX and they use a send and return system for that, which I imagine can be heard through the headphones if its set to pre fader.
Im sure others will chime in here with more knowledge than I have though, I dont use a mixer by either brand.
Well, all cue’s as far as I know are working pre fader but post eq. As for fx - it depends on the device (no idea for sure how effects are routed on some all in 1 units). If headphones are set to monitor master - effects will be heard, if to single channel it could be, that this is post eq but pre fader. If effects are post fader effects, logically following this - no fx in cue but yes in master cue.
That’s my understanding of it too, I guess the ask would be for a master cue on standalone units going by that.
@STU-C you can’t ear effects on Pioneer DJM series or Allen & Heath mixers (DB2/DB4/PX5) cueing channels. Both are post fader. You’ll only ear effects on master cue. You can select to cue eq or not on xone 92, 96, DJM V10
Cheers man, I’ve not been on a DJM for months and not used AH in years so thanks for confirming
Master cue would be handy on the prime units I guess.
