Creating Stems On Engine Desktop

After scouring the internet for unsuccessfully for ACCURATE instructions on creating STEMs on Engine DJ desktop, I gave up and thought I would give this forum a try. The video in the inMusic page I thought was very limited. The guy talks about how to download and install , yet there is no additional info on how to actually manipulate/create a track to create a stem on Engine desktop. Perhaps a follow up video on how to do that would have been…nice. Also the written tutorial states that the instructions are for desktop, but then it jumps to doing it on actual hardware rather than on Engine Desktop.

I’ve already bought and downloaded the license and is installed. My 6kMs both now show the STEMS folder under “Collection” Ditto for for my Engine dj desktop software. I even got as far as adding a track to the STEMS folder, but that’s it.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

When you add tracks to the stems folder it should create the stems files, which you can then export to the device using sync manager.

Make sure your computer has plenty of free space and don’t try to analyse too many at once.

Just to add to this, you can also just select as many Tracks as you want in the collection and right click on a track → create stems. It WILL warn you if your Drive does not have enough space. Also, depending on which drive you select, it will put the according files there, I think. I got a waring that said my C: Drive has too little space left (I wouldn’t want to do anything there anyways!!), selected my extra W: Drive with lots of space and it didn’t budge. Currently at work while the machine is creating Stems for 2500 Tracks. Will report back later and let y’all know how it went. So far, this is the fastest stem creation of any DJ software I tried. I analyzed a batch of like 700 tracks yesterday and it all went splendidly

I created them once at the start (long gone now as the quality was poor) and no issues at all on Windows. There still seems to be a problem on the Mac side however where storage is being locked.

I put the solution elsewhere but you need to install daisydisk on the Mac. Download directly from the developer rather than the one from the AppStore and then use it to purge the the recoverable temporary which is hidden but daisydisk shows it as purgeable space and you can delete it.

The issue usually occurs when trying to create stems for larger batches of files. You don’t encounter the issue usually if you are just trying to create stems for a few songs at time. Stem quality is not that good but some songs it’s not too bad.
