Connecting the pioneer rmx 1000 APP on the ipad to your x1850

Hi let there please be any one who can explain me how the hell you connect the ipad to the mixer i want to use the rmx 1000 effect app and it seems to work great on videos on youtube BUT …… offcourse nobody explains how to connect and configure it

How much cheaper is the app, compared to the real fx box ?

You’ll have to set the channel of choice to dvs mode when you want to use the app fx . Think of dvs mode as the send/return switch but the sound might drop out for a millisecond. You can plug the iPad directly to one of the mixer’s USB ports.

Or buy a separate audio interface for the iPad to use the send/return on the mixer. This might be the better option.

Or keep ch4 for the fx return and select on the app which of the 3 channels to pull the audio from. No switching on the mixer required. You can plug the iPad directly to the mixer’s USB port for this. This would probably be the best option.

If what you want is to use the SendRtn FX I think it will only work with analog audio out/in. I have never seen a mixer setting to route this signal by USB.

In this case you will not come around to have some kind of audio interface. If you are looking for a USB audio interface and not one with direct support for iOS (lightning) Camera Connection Kit will do the trick.

If you want to use it for a certain channel you could use DVS mode as described above. In this case your signal will go over USB and again you need Camera Connection Kit to connect with a lightning connection. Of course if you have a USB-C connector on your iPad you are able to connect it direct as you would with your computer.

If you get it work I would be really keen to know if you are satisfied with the latency and the overall behaviour. I know the app is around $20 but there are also some complains that it is not working as expected (audio input). Also it was not updated for years.

Good luck.

The app cost 19€ the rmx box 700 € and yes its the same all you need extra is a lightning camara kabel cost 10 € for the “fake” one original cost 40€ and a extra app thats called audiobus you need this for the pass trough to connect the mixer

Its a hell lot cheaper than the real deal and its super funny to use

Although I’m worried about the latency that the hardware version doesn’t give. It all depends on what you’ve got intentions on - paid gigs would take me down the hardware route… home use or hobbyist or home streaming would be fine in the app

Tx a lot for your anwsers !!! Yes it worked i set the channel to fader 2 and played a bit with it conclusion : :face_with_raised_eyebrow::slightly_frowning_face::pensive: it ■■■■■ sound doesnt come out over the song ok and effects only effect the kick clapp snare hihat buttons :confounded: i would recommend to stay the hell away from it waste of money ,!!!

to bad hoped it would be a cool solution to test it, before buying the real hardware

Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it !!!

I get the impression that the app was basically a cheap advert or teaser about what the real thing could do.

Like buying the 1 dollar match pot of tester paint to see if it’s the right colour at home before splashing out on the 75 dollar 5 gallon drum

Noop its the real deal it works perfect on your ipad like the hardware version but somehow when i connect it to the mixer i cant seem to use all the functions …. I will one day check it further there must be a solution for that because when u see it on you tube on a pioneer mixer it works flawless

Let’s be completely honest here though, using an iPad is nowhere near as tactile as real buttons and dials for activating effects perfectly in time with the beat.

I don’t think you hooked it up properly. The app can pull a stereo channel and send a stereo channel without audiobus.

The pioneer compatible mixers have a dedicated usb s/r that the app was designed for in the first place. The new Denon mixers don’t have this( my old dn-x600 does)

Theoretically the app can work with your mixer but you’ll be menu diving the app to switch in ports to assign the channel you want to pull audio from.

I think that’s the thing

If Pioneer want to sell a widget , would they rather sell it for £30 or £1000 . Sure there’s a different profit app research Vs hardware costs but for some people, buying the £30 app might stop them from buying the £1000 hardware
