Chroma Caps

Hello everyone!

Im after some advice, I’m wondering if the Fatty Knob will fit on the EQ section on the prime 4? On Chroma Caps website it has the Super Knobs on the EQs.

I prefer a larger encoder and wondering of this is an option?

Thanks for your help.

The dimensions for all the knob types are on the DJTT store…

Not sure. I only changed the gain knobs (different color) as I found myself turning the high EQ knob instead of the gain too often. I used the Super Knobs for that.

There is also the option of replacing the thin EQ knobs with fatty ones from Denon. Denon used them as standard on EQ knobs on the previous generation of mixers (X1600 etc) and then for some reason replaced them with thin ones on inMusic models, leaving them only on filter knobs.

…but will they fit into the little recesses on the Prime kit? OP needs to check the outside diameter.

Probably not but he would have the same problem with Croma Caps I guess…

Yeah, that is the main issue, they would sit on top of the faceplate and you’d have to leave 1 mm or so space, the moment you fully press them down they won’t turn so easy.

Perhaps you have a friend with 3D printing capability? Have him make some custom knobs for you?

“Chroma Caps and Coolorcaps fit, but sit a little above the faceplate.”

Thanks for the replies everyone! It seems there isn’t really a work around.

I did swap out one of the filter knobs and it does it onto the EQ but doesn’t feel as secure and you can feel the knob rubbing on the unit as you turn it.

You could place silicone O-rings on the pot stem (under the cap) to prevent the cap underside from scratching the faceplate of the mixer. Ebay has those O-rings for cheap. Just measure the stem and find some rings with the same diameter.
