I got the numark mixstream pro +, a standalone device. streaming music from beatport subscription. Got my Sony ZV-E10 and OBS to stream in Twitch. How do I manage the sound? Got a lavalier mic on my Sony Cam but the sound capturing from the speaker of my numark to the lavalier mic ■■■■■. How do I capture the sound directly from my mixstream pro to my Mac mini and then to OBS?
I´ve connected the mixstream via USB to my mac mini and downloaded Serato light. In OBS i can put in audio capture mac app and then choose serato, that worked. But I dont want to use Serato bc the mixstream pro is a standalone device and I wanna use it without other software or a laptop and just capture the sound to my mac mini. Any way I can do it? With only the USB connection it doenst work. Any help appreciated. My Mac Mini (M2) has only a headphone in slot. Will a RCA cable from the mixstream to usb c at my mac mini work? Please help. I dont wanna use Searato. There must be a way to capture the sound from the mixstream to my mac so I can put it in OBS… Or is every DJ on twitch using a software like Serato?
You likely need some kind of external sound card to capture the RCA out of the Mixstream and send it into the computer. Or just use Serato as you are doing now.
If you’re streaming music to DJ with, it limits the options when it comes to sending sound as you’re technically not meant to be using that music to ‘perform’ with.
The soundcard should connect to your Mac using USB, then have ports for plugging audio cables into.
You wont ever be able to stream directly from the device with streaming tracks as that would break the T&C’s you signed up to with the streaming service, so the only option is to have sound flowing into a computer then manage it from there. You should be able to capture audio directly in OBS without Serato though, but i dont know enough about it to say if its possible by just connecting USB to the Numark, i would assume that has some restriction in place so the sound card is the answer, or possibly run an RCA to jack cable into the camera mic port, that would work. Just be careful with your levels so you dont blow the camera’s amplifier up.
I know that streaming directly isnt possible. That´s why I use OBS. I´m a computer scientist so got a bit knowledge but I´m a absolut noob when it comes to audio ^^
I was able to capture the audio perfectly when using serato. But I dont like using a software, thats why i bought the numark mixstream pro to have all in one without a laptop.
So the way is to get the audio to my mac. I tried it with just connecting my numark to my mac with USB only, but there was no way in OBS to capture it. The only way was to capture the audio from an app, in this case serato and that worked…
Just ordered a rca cable and an external soundcard.
thanks again for your help.
Thinking about it a bit more, i would suggest going RCA out to 3.5mm jack into the mic port of the Sony camera, that way the camera can then send both video and audio to the stream, just dont ramp up the output on the Mixstream to insane levels, check the audio levels using the camera to ensure you’re not clipping then keep your mix consistent and it should be fine.
Edit: the sound card option is more robust on the whole though, and gives you more flexibility.
thanks again.
makes sense. ordered everything yesterday and will try both ways this evening.
the numark mixstream pro has build in speakers. will they work when i connect it from rca to 3.5mm jack of my sony cam? otherwise I wont have any sound when the sound is transfered to camera and then to mac via hdmi capture card.
if the intern speakers wont work, will it work if i connect some XLR box to the numark?
Ive never actually tried a dual connection of both RCA and XLR master out so not sure if they work alongside each other, cant see why not though… the internal speakers should just work regardless though.
In fact you don’t have to go through an additional external sound card.
You should be able to recover the master sound coming directly from the USB of the mixstream pro. In any case this is how I do it with my Z2 mixer and it works (but it’s a mixer not a standalone)
One of the steps you will have to do is to install Asio Plug-in for OBS
Because OBS does not offer native support for asio and will therefore not see your sound card when it is in asio.
Once this plug-in is installed, when you open OBS and click on + in the sources window, you should see a new type of source called Asio Insput Capture in the list of sources you can add.
Add it, then give it a name.
On the next screen in the “Device” drop-down menu, simply choose the name of the asio driver corresponding to your Mixstream Pro (in my case it is called Traktor Kontrol Z2), choose stereo and validate.
OBS should now receive the audio signal coming out of your master output directly via USB and be able to record it, you should see the VU meters moving in OBS on this source when you play music on this source. If this is the case, congratulations, it works!
However, you may need to adjust the gain in OBS if it is too low. On my Z2, the USB output gain was too low by 6 Db and raising or lowering the mixer master gain will have no effect on the audio level transmitted on the USB, it will just have an effect on the speakers via the XLR master outputs.
To do this, in the mixer part of OBS, right click on the asio source corresponding to your Mixstream Pro that you just added then click on advanced audio properties. Here you can add a few Db to adjust your output level if necessary. Be careful not to reach the red, you can add a limiter in OBS for this and get a perfect sound.
It’s true that I had a doubt on this point given that it’s a bit particular at Denon/Numark and as I don’t have any standalone product to test here, it was just a hypothesis to try
Indeed it would certainly work if he used his mixstream pro in serato or VDJ mode, because in this case, the USB is active. But not as long as he is under Engine OS. A good point for you.
hey all, thanks for your help. my amazon delivery arrived, ordered it yesterday after my research before asking here.
this way worked:
from my numark mixstram pro directly via RCA to the 3.5mm jack of my sony zv-e10 (which is captured via hdmi capture card to usb port at my mac mini).
can controll the stream volume via the main volume knot at my mixer and the volume of the inbuild speakers of my numark at each deck. yay. thanks all.
edit: Tested the other way too and this works as well.
RCA from my numark mixer to the behringer soundcard input and then the soundcard connected to my mac mini vis USB.
