Cannot use deck 2 and 3 when a playlist via spotify is used on deck 1

Hello everyone,

I am having a problem with the Prime 4 from Denon. In fact we would like to play a Spotify playlist in the early evening via track 1 (deck 1) and then take control over it without interruption.
The problem is the following, the sound of the playlist goes well to track 1 (deck 1) but when I want to take control I can load a song only on deck 4, deck 3 and 2 are unusable (it cannot be used).
not even light up around the jog). Basically I would like to associate my Spotify playlist with deck 1 and be able to use only decks 3, 2 and 4 without having to quit Spotify.

     Thank you for your answers

I am not aware that Spotify is also present among the streaming services.

Yeah, the problem description of this first post has my attention as well.

Maybe he is playing directly from a laptop in computer mode using P4 as ‘soundcard’? And wants it to run in standalone mode without rebooting?

that’s exactly it, do you have a solution? Thank’s

There isn’t a solution as they unit is not designed to work like this, you may be better playing the spotify playlist from a phone into a spare channel in standalone mode

That is the difference between designing a unit straight from 0 with Serato in mind (mcx8000) or simply shoving it under their nose and throwing money for them to midi map it to their software.

I don’t think you need to do that to know that controller mode was a last minute decision, everything about DenonDJ under inMusic is about standalone or in-house (from the lack of mk2/3 MC line of controllers to the rebuilding of Engine).

The solution is to not use Spotify (which you shouldn’t be doing anyway as it’s for personal use only).

Use one of the built in streaming services (i.e. Tidal) and the issue will not exist.

You can convert Spotify playlists to Tidal easily via e.g. Tune My Music.

ok thank you very much for your answers, I will prepare sets in advance for the beginning of the evening while I take care of the bar and the customers. I will explain to my employer that he cannot use the prime 4 like this

  • Get an RCA to Jack cable

  • Run Spotify off your Tablet , laptop or phone

  • Patch it into Line In on the Prime 4

No, because it’s for personal use only.

There are streaming services built in. Simply convert (or recompile) the playlist and use one of the approved services.

There is Spotify Business

Yes I know, but that’s for business premises to play as background music - it’s fixed playlists only.

Even if he was paying the extra to subscribe to that service (which I doubt) it wouldn’t be much use for playing back tracks listed by a client.
