Does anybody have information on about hooking up 2 Laptop with SeratoDJ to X1800 Mixer and (2) SC5000 , I have USB Hub with everything plugged into ( 2 SC5000, X1800, and Pioneer DDJ-SP1, Ext SSD and my main laptop is in USB 1 on the x1800 everything is working with no problems…But , If I have a guest DJ or a second laptop with SeratoDJ and all updated driver for x1800 and Sc5000 on his laptop , His laptop doesn’t recognize SC5000 players , only see the x1800 mixer… But, If I swap laptop location it works Any help is appreciate …Thanks in Advance
So is the original laptop, still able to access the SCs, even when all 4 channel switches have been changed from USB 1 to 2?
Does the second laptop have a full version of Serato?
Sorry I’m shooting blind here, I’ve never tried it with two computers. I already have my iMac connected at home, I’ll plug the MacBook Pro in as well tomorrow and see if I can replicate.
The players need to be plugged in by usb to the laptop in order to work with that laptop. Get a usb hub, plug in both decks to it, run the cable from the usb hub to the laptop. When changing the dj’s from laptop 1 to laptop 2 replug the hub to another laptop.
Or option 2 - use 1 sc5000 with laptop 1, and another sc5000 with laptop 2.
If You have 2 decks, each one needs to be plugged in like this - left deck to laptop 1, right deck to laptop 2. Both laptops to usb 1 and 2 in the mixer.
Morning. Thank you for your input. I have done options 1 before. But trying to make a smoother handoff to the other laptop 2. I might had found a quicker and better way. Still testing it out. 2 Ports USB 2.0 Selector Switch for PC Sharing Switch to my USB Hub. Thanks Again.
Sorry to bump this thread, but did anyone solve the smooth handover issue? I have 2 x SC6000M & an X1850 which I use with Serato, but the same thought has just crossed my mind of how to do a smooth DJ handover. Using USB sticks or a controller, it’s easy, but I can’t figure an easy way to do it with my setup.
Also, if the setup is using Serato, is there any way I can handover to a USB stick DJ, without having to switch the SC6000 off & restart it from computer mode?
Hi Reese. There was no solution offered. One community member said he had an idea & would run a few tests, & that was his last post.
Gavin in the other thread has resorted to streaming a track from Tidal whilst his DJ’s swap over. It seems to be a common issue & I can’t find anyone who’s found a solution. It’s something I really need to resolve.
Like Noiseriser states above, you cannot change from standalone to computer mode without a reboot. However, you have two players so one could reboot to standalone while the other is playing.
I don’t use Serato with the players and mixer set. For me it’s a standalone set.
Could you tell me what isn’t working? You speak of two Serato users, but also about DVS and standalone. Changing should be easy when you can make one player available (using a reboot or cable switch).
Correct me if I’m wrong. You stated that a DJ handover with a controller is easy; well a Prime controller needs to completely reboot when switching to and from standalone and Serato. That kills all audio imho.
What scenario are you trying to find a solution for?
I previously used a DDJ SZ which has two USB inputs. When the handover takes place, the DJ who follows plugs into USB input 2 & switches the input selector for whichever deck is free to input two. This greys out the spare deck for the finishing DJ & arms it for the following DJ.
Once the handover is done, you then switch the USB selector for that deck to input two so the following DJ can seamlessly take control of both decks without a break in music. Then, so on & so forth for the next DJ etc.
There’s one USB B cable used by each DJ, so absolutely no drama at the handover. I’m hoping to achieve something similar using the SC6K/X1850 setup.
In terms of DVS, apparently it’s needed by Serato to control players or turntables. I don’t have DVS, but my Serato still controls the SC6K/X1850 without a problem. That’s why DVS was mentioned as a possible solution, but it’s not an issue I’m facing. I’m just trying to fathom out the easiest way for a DJ transition using my setup, but so far the many other people facing the same issue as me haven’t found a solution, hence why I bumped two posts addressing the issue.
I’d be massively grateful for any help in getting over this problem.
When ready to mix in change mixer channel from USB to Line
Engine standalone to Serato - do the reverse but One player at a time.
Two Serato laptops switch - unplug the players from laptop 1 and plug to laptop 2. Just as previously mentioned unplugging SC6000/5000 from laptop does not stop Serato from continuing to play.
