Hi, since 4.1 update the usb Rekodbox keys cannot import RB playlists on sc6000 devices, it stays stucked.
Hi, Same problem on Prime go 4.1 Rbox key made with RB v7
same issue that lead me here
Denon, help update please
Hi, nobody else has this problem ?
Try deleting only the engine folder on the usb stick
Then test again on your players
Ok I Try and I see
Nope it doesn’t work. I think it is Rekordbox 7
We need an update in order to make it work again please
RB7 might be locked forever.
I haven’t come across this yet.
Perhaps it is , perhaps it isn’t
If they lock it they are going to break support for their own club standards
I think more about a bug or a modified database in RB 7 , it only freezes when importing playlists, not songs
Well, found it ! Until a new update, Engine os can’t read Rekordbox version 7.xx USB/SD keys.
Works well under 6.8.5 RB keys
Yeah, I read sometime ago already that RB7 now encrypts the USB stick databases too. Without the key to this encryption InMusic is powerless.
Go figure, Pioneer/ATC is encrypting YOUR intellectual property (playlists, loops, etc), while there are FAQ sections that prove that InMusic is even endorsing third party developers regarding their database…
Vendor lock-in is a real and dirty thing in this world…
Do Mixo and Lexicon still work?
I have rebuilt my RB usb keys under v6.8.5 RB and it works very well so…
So it seems. You can reverse engineer anything. The thing with reverse engineering (or hacking your way into something) is you’ll always run behind…
Puoneer are just getting desperate. A colleague of mine works in one of the UKs largest DJ retailers and they’re seeing a big shift in the number of people shying away from pioneers prices and lack of features. People are finally shopping for features and current innovation rather than blindly sticking to a “standard” brand or badge.
No wonder pioneer have tried encryption on rekordbox… to try and slow down the number of people jumping ship from pioneer gear to more upto date and better featured kit.
Mind you… didn’t pioneer try something similar with locking rekordbox a few years ago…, a lock which lasted barely a few months before users kicked up a fuss and the lock was removed.
I’m sure lexicon will break through the rekordbox encryption at some point. Then pioneer are unlike to waste any more time (and firmware updates across their entire historic range of players and consoles) dabbling with encryption
They did, caused a big internet riot. Locking the main collection and the usb sticks is a different thing though: its a big advantage to be able to use RB sticks in Denon gear without tools like lexicon. You can still export an XML file from RB, and than import that into Engine DJ, but its an extra step…
In the end it all depends which segment you play in: smaller (around 300 people) events already mostly require DJs to bring their own gear, especially in the private event scene. And at very big 5000+ events, there are such big names with tech riders being taken seriously, that it doesnt matter either. The only problem is the local around 2000 people events: A rental company is hired who just puts in Pioneer stuff, riding on the wave of the 2000s, and DJs playing there are local talents whose tech riders wont be taken seriously. If you ask for Denon you get funny looks. If you ask to swap out gear during the night for you, you get funny looks. If you start dabbling into the wiring yourself, you get funny looks…
Its actually this rental scene that keeps Pioneer on its throne. But you must understand them: most of them provide standard gear and leave 1 tech maintaining the whole installation including lighting. If every DJ starts to bring its own gear, including the ones who don’t know their way around professional audio wiring, those rental companies have to provide a second tech to cater the change-overs, which means higher rental costs. And some mid size clubs are in the same street: if a DJ screws up the wiring they will have to call for help, which costs them money. I have been warned multiple times by club owners that if I wouldn’t restore the wiring after my set, I wouldn’t get paid. Luckily for me, I know what I am doing
Maybe we have to start lobying with those rental companies and clubs for a unified database format
