Hi on my sc6k onboard hard drive, main index shows artist is there anything I can do to have just the folders/albums not the long long list or artist it’s annoying Thank you upfront for your help.
only way is to manually copy the file structure as you want/need it without Engine syncing data over. Other way is to sort your playlists as you want and use Engine to sync it.
Other than that, nope. Using Engine DJ to send data over will change the way files are organized on the performance storage volumes.
I sync my PC file structure to the SD card, then add the tracks to Engine directly from that structure. Works OK for me.
I do the same actually. Most of my playlists are just mirrors of directories that I dragged onto Engine.
An easy method is to just copy folders to your drive. To access harddrives from computer use USB adaptor. Start Engine DJ Software on your computer and go to Engine Library / Drives - open till you see collection folder. Then drag and drop your folders from Explorer (PC) or finder (mac) to your collection folder on your drive. Wait until Engine DJ has analysed all files and then exit Engine DJ and unmount drive.
Drives with folders can more easily be used in Pioneer DJ hardware which likes folders more than Engine DJ library sorting all music in subfolders by artists.
It would be nice if engine just worked like every other DJ software.
Oh yeah it’s not a DJ software. Well why is it not a DJ software?
Bro. Did we just witness you talking to yourself
It sounds like the OP isn’t using the desktop app to organise their music collection, instead choosing to just insert a drive with their music collection then navigate that collection using the files option.
Creating a collection in Engine desktop then exporting it to the drive using sync manager will provide much more flexibility when searching, organising and filtering.
Thank you all i’ve just been using the sc6k tbh not the Engine desktop ill get that set up on the laptop & try to get it linked, do i use the lead from laptop into usb1 on my x1850 do i need to plug into 2 as well?
This has been really helpful
Hi Ganner, you should have been provided a USB-B 3.0 cable (the one thats like USB-A but bigger).
You can organise all your music in the desktop app, there’s a manual for that but essentially you want to add everything into your collection then organise stuff into separate playlists, you can then use the ‘sync manager’ to export it all to the hard drive, I assume you have all your music on the computer as well as the hard drive? if not then there are other steps as exporting to the drive will result in needing to format it first so Engine can take it over.
To do the export you plug the cable into your SC-6000 from the computer, then put the SC-6000 in computer mode so it can be read by the computer, at that point your hard drive should appear as an available drive in Engine.
Dont do any of this until you’ve checked all the stuff above though, it’s vital your music isnt just on that hard drive and nowhere else.
