Boot directly into Computer Mode, possible?

Is it possible to directly boot into Computer Mode? Maybe by holding down some button at startup?

At the moment I always boot it to the normal standalone EngineDJ mode, then go into the menu and switch to Computer Mode, feels a bit convoluted.

Default operation is standalone, so controller mode is a secondary option, not a primary one. Only controllers boot up in to controller mode - their primary option.

Sure, I’m not expecting it to have only Computer Mode like a controller, just a more efficient way to boot into Computer Mode than to wait for it to first boot all the way into standalone, and then reboot again.

This is available on the SC6000. Press and hold the Media Eject, and Source and Layer buttons simultaneously while powering on.

There is this feature request targeting the SC Live 4, but perhaps the request could be applicable across controllers.

Autostart from Computer Mode on SC Live 4

By the way, the manual used to call this “controller mode”. Therefore, there are some discussions here using that term. There are numerous requests and discussion threads asking for a closely-related feature to switch seamlessly between computer and stand-alone modes. Those are moot, as tech has stated that it will not be possible with the current controllers.

That is not computer mode, this is a forced update via computer usb connection. Completely different thing.

Ah, yes, you’re absolutely correct @NoiseRiser. I’ve updated over Wifi and only use stand-alone for so long that it slipped me. So, SC6000’s are in the same situation.

Thus, the term “controller-mode” might be better to use.

For those who consistently use Serato, VDJ, etc., it will definitely be easier if there is a direct boot either by having a default boot setting or something as simple as holding a button when pressing power.

Pardon me, but I would buy a controller when needing a controller.

For as long as syncing the library to the internal SSD can’t happen over WiFi i’d love the ease of a fast bootup into controllermode. It’s by far a non-essential feature, but it’ll “spark joy”.

Gee, the flexibility of ways you can use the products are a plus for Denon DJ. I’d say the Prime 4+ is the most flexible on the market. Denon DJ markets it as being Serato and VDJ ready. Don’t push away customers.

I understand what you’re saying, but come on, a few extra seconds to go into controller mode. It’s a standalone device by design.

Calling it “pushing away customers”; yeah okay…

Looking at the Denon DJ website, they list it under Standalone DJ Systems. If you click on the Prime 4+ page, it’s described again as a standalone DJ system. You have to scroll almost to the bottom of the page before it mentions Serato & VDJ.

However, I do think they need to remove the part that says “industry’s first standalone Stem separation” (OOPS).

It’s a win-win that the developers put in the effort to include both modes. I enjoy using djay Pro with my Prime Go. I agree that it’s not that big of a deal to switch over to controller mode and it wouldn’t be in my feature request list. But, I respect the OP that it might be really useful and there is the one feature request for that to be included with the SC Live 4 (which is marketed as the “Ultimate Serato DJ Pro Controller” and includes the Serato DJ Pro license). If it’s easy to implement maybe it will be an Easter egg one day. I don’t think it will get a lot of votes.

@Reese maybe I interpreted your comment the wrong way. If so, apologies.

Well the vote thing is not necessarily because people don’t like the idea…

Of course I like the ability to be able to work standalone, but the Prime 2/4 and the SC Live 2/4 are also very good as a controller, I’m using mine most of the time like that. Buying a FLX10 as well is a bit over the top.
