I wanted to test the Rane System One’s Bluetooth with my smartphone, but unfortunately, the R.S One had a lot of trouble detecting it.
So I tried with my partner’s phone!
But the same thing happened! I had to try four times to get her phone to pair. It was only on the fifth attempt that my partner’s phone finally connected to the R.S One.
Then a crash occurred, a sort of screen refresh issue in the R.S One’s Bluetooth settings. The toggle for enabling/disabling Bluetooth switched to “disabled,” and this disconnected my partner’s phone. It was then impossible to re-enable Bluetooth in the R.S One.
To debug the R.S One, I had to perform a factory reset.
The R.S One restarted, I reconfigured all my preferences in the settings, and then I tried pairing my phone, then my partner’s, and everything worked. I hope that during a live test at a wedding, I don’t encounter this situation when trying to connect to the couple’s phone.
I find it a shame that Rane / Engine Dj did not think of the possibility of pre-listening with headphones to the BT/Aux section to adjust the input gain with a display on the VU meter so that it is not too loud when in use, or if necessary to have the choice of switching the BT to Deck 1 or Deck 2.
