Hello, I would like to buy Prime 4+. But what really discourages me is that (as far as I know) there is no way to edit Beatport playlists either in Engine DJ on Windows, or in Engine OS.
Rekordbox, Virtual DJ and Djay Pro all have the ability to directly edit/save Beatport Playlists.
I think that Prime+ is a great device, but given that Engine OS does not have this functionality, I think that it is simply not on par with competition. The same applies for Prime 4+ as a result - I think that everything moves towards streaming.
Please can you tell me when does Denon plan to implement it?
Hi, nobody knows and InMusic don’t divulge information on forthcoming changes publicly. If that function is a deal breaker then you are probably best sticking to using laptop software with a controller, because you won’t get assurances on non-implemented features on the forum or anywhere else.
Thank you for reply. I understand - but this is such a missed opportunity:-)) I mean how difficult this really is? Especially in case every other software already has it? This would make the device and Engine OS much more competitive. Ok, so…no Prime 4+ for me:-))
I don’t know about other software, but it’s probably best not to compare standalone OS with laptop performance software as they are two completely different things.
If Alphatheta offer it on their standalone devices then that is the comparison to make here. And if it’s so critical to you then that is where you make the decision.
I would probably take a wider view of the overall importance of streaming, most DJs from what I can see are still heavily reliant on buying and storing their music offline, as streaming has too many caveats to contend with in a live environment. This should be taken into consideration when pondering how important you think this feature would be, it’s important to you but is it really important to the mass market.
Well, I understand and get your point but if any other manufacturer device + software combo allows you to edit and save Beatport playlist…? It is a pity…I was mainly aiming at least at the ability to access Beatport playlist on Prime 4+, then being able to alter it (even if only by including the tracks in “local” device playlist) then sync it with PC and upload to Beatport again (simply update it). For me this is then not a “standalone”…it is rather a stripped down player.
