I was DJing a dance set with my Prime 4 at a wedding and the beatgrids analyzed from Tidal & Beatsource tracks were not lining up with the waveforms. I edited the beatgrid to line up with the waveforms, but then it was not lining up with the audio. They seemed to be off by half a second. The waveforms and beatgrid were useless at that event and I had to beatmatch 100% by ear. Is this a common problem? I had the streaming quality set to normal. Does that make a difference in the accuracy of the beatgrid analysis?
What’s up @DJ_MaveWave,
I’d like to see what happens on my end. Please provide a few tracks on Tidal that you had this issue with. Thanks
I have encountered tracks on beatsource with incorrect “provided bpm”. This results in incorrect grids.
Tidal bpms and grids are almost always spot on, as Engine OS does the calculation on board after downloading the track…with the obvious exception of variable tempo tracks eg Kool and the Gang - Ladies night
I got some feedback that it might be that quantization was on. Going to check that. The state the my Prime 4 was in was that it had been playing music for about 5 hours (ceremony, cocktail, dinner, formalities). It wasn’t until about 2 hours into the dance set that the beatgrids started to be inaccurate.
Here’s a playlist of some tracks that I was experiencing this. https://tidal.com/browse/playlist/582e7f54-ce82-43c8-8fd3-f6d3be0663dd
I don’t think it was the files as it was happening with Beatsource as well. There were no issues on tracks in my local library. The problems seems to be with analyzation after the Prime 4 has been running for several hours. So maybe thermal issues?
What’s up @DJ_MaveWave,
Thanks for sharing the playlist. Do you have any that DEFINITELY didn’t work? I tested several on the playlist. See my video below.
Those were tracks that were “off grid” after analyzed. Again, it seems the track is not the issue. This has happened only after playing for several hours. If I load them now from a freshly powered on controller they are fine.
Not denying that you’re having an issue, but my experience has been quite different. I’ve played several 4+ hour events in December with no problem. Wish I could be of more help.
No worries. Thanks for taking the time! There could be anything that might be causing it. Computers are finnicky sometimes. Could even be cosmic rays!
I’ve been having the same or similar problem since upgrading to 4.0.0. Anyone else? The sound from Tidal is not aligned with the waveform.
The bass is already in the headphones as audio, but in the display it is not in the same position.
Or have I just made the wrong setting somewhere? Please see and hear the attached Video: WeTransfer - Send Large Files & Share Photos Online - Up to 2GB Free
After another search I found a possible solution here, which was not helpful for me: Waveform out of sync with audio! - #6 by FlintAndFigure
I was having the same issue on my Prime 4 on the latest firmware, v2.3.0. This happened for most tracks on Tidal.
What fixed it for me was clearing the Tidal waveform and cue cache using the little cog on the bottom left when viewing your Tidal collection.
Does no one have a solution for this Problem one? Really annoying. Had a Gig on Saturday and the same Problems with Tidal Songs again.
