Feature Request: Would it be possible to have the automatic BPM jump feature from rekordbox come to Engine OS on standalone Denon hardware? I absolutely love the features you guys have included- but as I’ve transitioned over to open format DJ’ing, I have tracks in my library that jump BPM’s throughout the song.
In Rekordbox I can analyze the song and set a point on the beat grid that will automatically switch the tempo to the correct bpm keeping the grid in check. I was hoping to have that feature added to Engine OS if possible, allowing us to convert our rekordbox library with that data included to work with Denon hardware.
Good to know! The only issue is I analyze and organize all my music in rekordbox since I mainly use Pioneer hardware for gigs, but I use my SC Live 4 for practice or private events. I was hoping to have Engine OS automatically convert the data of tempo changing tracks from rekordbox when I plug in my USB.
I’ll use this if I have to, but it would just create 2x the work of prepping all my tracks since I have a very large library. Thanks for the tip tho!
Correct! On Pioneer hardware the song will automatically switch to the correct BPM of the tempo switch once you have set it in rekordbox. I was just hoping to have that implemented into Engine OS. The user below commented about the Flexible Beat Grids which is exactly what it is- but I organize all my music in rekordbox, and that data doesn’t transfer over. I was hoping to have that added if possible.
I personally cant see InMusic focusing too much time developing integration of a rivals software, not when there is so much other stuff to do. Would Alphatheta return the favour?
Oh, does it not do that? When Rekordbox introduced their “high precision” analysis I was going to trying importing from there to Engine but never got round to it.
Good point, but Engine OS already has the feature implemented. All I’m asking for is the data of the BPM switch to be transferred over just like hot cues, loops etc are already conveniently converted. If it’s not too hard and easy to implement, that would be awesome! Hopefully its not too tricky to code
It doesn’t seem too. I even manually input where the bpm switch happens in my rekordbox library, which works fine on Pioneer hardware (obviously ) but doesn’t seem to work on Denon hardware even after the automatic USB conversion.
To bring the full beatgrid data over from Rekordbox to Engine you have to export the Rekordbox library as XML and import that into Engine DJ. When you plug a Recordbox-exported USB into Engine hardware Engine won’t use existing beatgrid data, it reanalyses the tracks and assumed they have a constant tempo.
