I’ve had my x1850 for a few years now and was finally forced to upgrade my laptop earlier this summer and Windows 11 came along with it. I know about the channels 9/10, have always used 41kh and 16 bit encoding. Made sure all of my settings match between Mixer, Windows inputs and Audacity itself. Latest drivers across the board and firmware on the Mixer. Even tried out Broadcast mode instead. I’ve adjusted the buffer up, down, whatever. No matter what recording will halt somewhere between five and fifty seconds. Latest version of Audacity. These are Gen 3.2 USB ports versus USB 2.0 on the old laptop.
After smashing my face against a wall trying to make it work had the thought to try out the old Windows 7 laptop since I’ve used the same settings for 2+ hour sets for years. It made it about 22 minutes before I had the same hard stop even though this is an older version of audacity that used to work flawlessly.
I’m stumped.
I’m beginning to wonder if there’s something about the firmware causing an odd output glitch?
Has anybody got recording working on Windows 11 with any version of Audacity?
I tried to use ocenaudio as an alternative to audacity and experienced the same issue. In this case it doesn’t halt recording, the audio seems to jam and you get a horrible continuous noise.
The only reason I’ve seen Audacity halt a recording (other than it being asked to do so) was when the disk fills and there is no room remaining for more recording. When you start recording in Audacity, the bottom menu should say something like:
Disk space remaining for recording: 420 hours and 1 minute
Are you seeing such a message, and does that message show that you have enough room for your recordings?
If not, can you describe any errors you are seeing, and clarify if Audacity simply stops recording, shows a message and stops recording, or just crashes?
Also, can you please clarify, are using the mixer standalone, and you have an audio capture device to get the audio that the mixer outputs, or are you trying to use the mixer as a soundcard and connect to Audacity directly?
