Lowering the tempo to 35-5 BPM with reverb on it and less bass plus removed drums create very ambient sounding for nice atmosphere on intro. Does it work for you? For me it’s definitely ambient music or it’s not?
Sometimes I record sounds which I find interesting, like that very squeaky metal field gate which I came across somewhere in the mountains. Playing the sample slowly created a very gloomy, dark-futuristic sound, pretty sinister, … plus reverb this is dark ambient …
With the right effects, you can make ambient from anything.
Your idea of lowering the tempo and tweaking the bass and drums is definitely interesting. Ambient is such a versatile genre – it’s all about creating atmosphere and sound design!
it’s an interesting experience
have you tried this with techno? what genres?
Tested on Dubstep intros because in most cases it’s more melodic part of the song. I think for most electronic music it should work if the original song is less ‘on repeat’
Recording that then storing this in the session folder can fix tempo sync issues as well.
