Amazon music unlimited downloads very slow

I have noticed that the music unlimited downloads are very slow - sometimes up to 30 seconds for a 5:00 track. On the Mac and iPhone it is much faster. I mean the pure download time without analysis. Internet connection is extremely fast

Beatport tracks load within 3 seconds. Unit: Prime 4+ 4.10 Software

Is it the same for you?

I gave up on amazon. Its good for home djing, but not for public use. Iv done one gig with amazon ad it was ine if the most stressfull ones in my life Internet speed was about 200mbit

Sort of ironic given they run one of the world’s biggest web hosting companies.

It’s a real shame that the downloads are so slow despite an optimal internet connection via cable. The song selection is perfectly fine for me and €10 for 320KB/s MP-3 and similar to Spotify. I already had Tidal - it was OK for €10 back then but I canceled after the cheeky price increase. Although the download speed was also fast. Beatport is too EDM for me, but the download speed is top notch.

I only use streaming occasionally - ideal for song requests that you don’t have.

I don’t want to start a discussion about streaming here, I’m just interested in your practical experience of download speeds under optimal internet conditions. Could this possibly be a hardware problem with the devices or is it due to the Amazon servers? Thanks

Well I’m currently using Tidal (as it works in VDJ as well) and I’m on a 500mb/s line and tracks load in under a second.

Guess other Amazon users will need to chime in. As you say it could be an issue at their end or on the player itself with the encryption chip.

I had the same experience with Tidal - really super fast. But the price of 10€ for the DJ extension is outrageous.

I hope things improve with Amazon Music - it’s no fun even at home when you have to wait forever for the download.

I don’t see how. Compared to Beatport/source with the same options (high quality and offline storage) it’s a bargain. They’re 29.99 and 34.99 respectively.

Compared to actually buying music each week it’s also a bargain. Once upon a time the only option for DJs was to buy vinyl or CDs. I could easily spend up to 70 each week on vinyl (and that was in the eighties), so in comparison 5 a week is peanuts.

Claiming that less than a dollar/pound/euro per day for access to millions of tracks is “outrageous”? I just can’t see it.

If you’re a working DJ then is a tiny percentage of your income to have literally every track at your fingertips.

And as PK says if you’re a VDJ user there’s offline storage and they can have stems generation too.

From what I’ve read in various DJ forums Amazon Music isn’t very highly regarded, maybe that’s why it’s so cheap.

If I were to earn money with it professionally, €25-35 would be appropriate. For me as an occasional private user, I am not prepared to spend more than €15.

Everyone has to evaluate the benefits and the price/performance ratio for themselves.

I think I’ll give Beatsource a chance. Let’s see what the content is like.

I know you don’t want to discuss services persay but I’ve had a Beatsource trial and it’s pretty terrible. And a good lot of the content is locked to the higher tier.

I’m trying it just in time- you’re right but the locked version are almost clean intros and so that I don’t need anyway- but sadly only a few Techno tracks. If you want all genres you have to use both- Beatport and Beatsource  But loading times are great- and you get Meta Infos like Genre, Year and Label what Amazon music didn’t have. So you can rate and sort Tracks easily in Engine and copy back to the stick and have all sort options at the unit.
