AlphaTheta SLAB has arrived

It’s a drum pad style controller for Serato Studio (£259)

Oh no! I bet Akai is quaking in it’s boots

Depends if you need to sell one kidney to buy it, or both.

I hear selling livers are so hot RN

EDIT: it’s affordable

I suspect being Scottish and drinking booze for 41 years will have rendered my one useless.

Just reading today that the SLAB includes a full permanent version of Serato Studio, which would normally be around £180 - overpriced IMO but effectively means the SLAB is costing you around £80.

Also SLAB can be used with Serato Sample and (Denon DJ please note!) Serato DJ Pro.

IMO this is what needs to happen with the Akai pad controllers and Engine hardware (assuming the sampler ever gets shown some love).

Oh joy, yet another controller… oh let me decide which beat machine to get rid of that midi’s already with Serato studio… also in my opinion quite sure over a decade ago Akai had the same kind of controller, I think it was called the Akai Mpc Studio.

Well for those that are looking for a new version of controller… AlphaTheta Slab

Yep, it’s already for some years on the market…

And how does alpha cement Slab should look like:

Nothing special, just another controller (late good 5-7 years) - that you need to connect to a laptop,

BIG NO thx, Akai rulezz

looks sexxyyy tho, probably we will see huge price drop in spring next year…

Oh no! AT/Pioneer coming to market years after everyone else to support a “MPC” style ecosystem that very few use. How groundbreaking.

But who uses Serato (studio) anymore ?

Come on, who thinks the SLAB is something. It’s a complete rubbish.

small screen and a copy of Akai and Maschine. not worth it in my opinion

Wait, so Common thinks that SLAB is something? Now there’s an endorsement.

Well obviously the SLAB is something. If it was nothing, there’d be no pictures of it. It wouldn’t exist, so people wouldn’t be able to make videos about it or mention it on web sites.

Small screen, just like MPC Studio and Maschine Mikro - so they must be rubbish too.

Probably a 5 figure one

If u use 1 percent of your mind you wouldn’t say that. MPC Studio and Maschine Micro were released in what year? And when released there were other bigger models that is higher in price and higher in specs with bigger screens. SLAB exists, but it ain’t worth the hype. akai, NI and Ableton have better options even from older models. MR. GENIUS.

My mind is being fully utilised thank you very much. I am aware of what was released and when. It doesn’t matter when they were released. They’re still on the market now, and they’re comparable products.

If this had a larger screen, it would be even more expensive and bigger overall, when the idea is that it’s small and portable. In fact TBH it’s not really necessary to have a screen at all, as it’s not a standalone unit.

FYI I didn’t start the thread because I thought it was a great product, but because it’s in the news (and this is the news area) and because in another thread here recently, someone spotted the SLAB name in the FCC listings. Now we know what it is.

Removed several off-topic discussion.

In other news The SLAB is compatible with SDJ 4.0.1 and can be used to control stems/levels, FX so an extra surface for SDJ users.

Yeah, as I said in my second post, if inMusic got their butts in gear, we could have this functionality for our standalone units via the Akai range.

Pioneer do similar with their XP pad/effect controllers (at least on some of their stuff), so it would be nice to join the party.
