Adjust Beat Jump Length

Hey, so I know how I can adjust the loop length by spinning the encoder. I keep seeing people say if you hold shift while doing that (and not in a loop), you can adjust the Beat Jump length, but I haven’t found any combination that works for me.

How do I adjust the Beat Jump length on the fly, so that I can easily Beat Jump of lengths other than four beats?

I see this but it doesn’t really help to describe the new ‘feature’.

Why that topic in the link is marked as implemented,.if it’s not implemented? Also , the title was changed and not by me. I was asking to move a loop that was already engaged to the left or to the right by a certain amount of bars. Not to separate beat jump and loop lengths.

@mufasa why did you mark the post as solved, if it is not?

A quick search for Engine OS and the date of the accepted post reveals this was implemented in Engine OS 2.3.0.

  • Beat Jump size and Auto Loop size can now be adjusted independently. To adjust the Beat Jump size, hold Shift and press the Beat Jump back or forward button to decrease or increase the size respectively.

Of course this only works on devices with beat jump buttons.

@meLon_Cucumis per the conglomerated Prime 2, 4, 4+, Go, Go+, SC Live 2, 4 manual, p. 8

  1. Beat Jump: Press either of these buttons to skip backward or forward through the track. Press and hold Shift and press one of these buttons to increase or decrease the beat jump size.

26 refers to the left and right beat jump buttons in the associated figure.

@ElTitoFranki, on p. 9, moving a loop with shift is mentioned. But, if I read your OP correctly, you want to designate how many bars to move the loop left or right. As implemented now, I think it moves the loop left or right by the full size of the loop. My guess is there just aren’t enough buttons available to implement that.

  1. Auto Loop / Loop Move: Turn this knob to set the size of an automatic loop. The value will be shown in the touchscreen and platter display. Press this knob to activate or deactivate an automatic loop at the current location of the track. Press and hold Shift and turn this knob to shift the active loop to the left or right.

More details are given on p.50 of the manual.

This is exactly how this also works on my SC6000’s. It’s a bit different on the Prime Go, as they don’t have dedicated beat jump buttons (see p.50).

Ohhhhh, you hold shift and press the button itself, not the encoder. Derp. I’ll have to download a new manual apparently as well.

Thanks so much for answering this question. Maybe it’ll help someone else in the future.

You also have the option to link the beat jump length to the loop length, this way you can use the encoder to control the length for both.

Exactly, that’s what I was asking. Many other DJ software have this implemented

Actually, beats and bars. I can’t count the times I missed setting up a manual loop by one beat (usually late). It’d be great to shift it back one beat.

Maybe the parameter buttons could be used? They are used to shift an auto loop (bottom p.54).

That topic has been closed for about 3 years now, so might be a good idea to recreate a “new” feature request, if you still want to. Emphasis on the ‘certain amount of bars’ part.

@Reese, makes sense. @ElTitoFranki, after further reflection, with quantize on loops lock to the bar(s). Shift + Auto Loop Knob rotate will move the looping bar(s) left or right by bar(s). So, with quantize on, my issue is solved. And, in some ways, @Mojaxx was correct. Thus, if you want to make a new request, it would be distilled down to moving a loop by beats.
