What is the feature or ability you would like to have?

The ability to add all tracks from a selected folder directly into a playlist with a single action, right on the Engine OS device. This could be an option in the menu like “Import Folder as Playlist” or “Add All Tracks to Playlist” when browsing in the “Folder” view.

Is this feature for OS, Desktop software, or both?

This feature is primarily for the Engine OS (the software on the standalone device).

How will this feature help you and others?

This feature would drastically improve the on-the-fly library management and is a fundamental workflow enhancement for any DJ using the hardware in a truly standalone capacity.

  • Massive Time-Saver: It eliminates the incredibly tedious process of manually dragging dozens or even hundreds of tracks one-by-one into a playlist. Preparing for a 3-hour set can be done in seconds instead of many minutes.

  • Encourages Spontaneity: It allows DJs to quickly create a playable crate from a folder of new music they just received on a USB stick moments before a gig.

  • Strengthens the “Standalone” Concept: It makes the device more independent from the desktop software for essential organizational tasks, which is a core selling point of the Prime series.

Der aktuelle Prozess ist, als würdest du versuchen, eine Kiste Sand mit einem Teelöffel zu bewegen. Eine “Ordner zu Playlist”-Funktion wäre, als könntest du einfach den ganzen Eimer auf einmal umkippen. Effizienter geht es nicht.

Yes, this is a standard, fundamental feature in virtually all desktop DJ preparation software (including Engine DJ Desktop, Rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, etc.) and even in most standard music player applications on any computer. The request is to bring this essential organizational function to the standalone Engine OS.

Does a workaround currently exist?

Yes, but it is highly impractical.

  1. Manual Drag & Drop: The only on-device workaround is to manually add each track from a folder to a playlist, one by one. For a folder with many tracks, this is extremely time-consuming and frustrating.

  2. Using a Computer: The other workaround is to use a computer with the Engine DJ desktop software to create the playlist beforehand. This, however, completely negates the benefit and flexibility of having a powerful standalone device for situations where a laptop is not available or desired.
