I have installed the 4.0 update for the Mixstream Pro Plus. Now Virtual DJ is saying no soundcard failed to initialize ASIO driver. I need assistance.
I would guess that assistance needs to come from VDJ. the alternative is to roll back to the earlier firmware, which shouldn’t make much difference if you’re using the device as a controller.
In theory, the update has nothing to do with the Asio driver because Engine OS is just an application running on a Linux kernel.
So when there is a new version of Engine OS it is simply an update of the application. For there to be a modification to the Asio drivers following the 4.0 update, this implies that there has been a modification to the Linux kernel or to the way in which the kernel manages the ASIO drivers. And I very much doubt that the Linux kernel or the way it handles Asio has been modified in this version.
I think it’s probably more of a coincidence, perhaps following a Windows update that appeared when Engine 4.0 was released? If I were you, I’d be exploring this possibility on the computer side.
Things to try:
- Same controller, different DJ software.
- Same DJ software, different controller.
- Same controller, same DJ software, different computer.
- Different USB cable.
- Different USB port, direct connection (no hub).
Did your controller do a control surface update when it went to 4.0?
This is the software layer that lives within the controller itself and not Engine OS. This controls the hardware for when it is in Computer Mode as it needs to know what to do. Hopefully this went okay if so.
You could always try a factory reset within Engine OS settings (in the about screen) on your hardware.
Quite a few options above to try and hopefully fix it.
