USB Speeds of ports

That is about the engine software that was before the Prime series. This program was meant to be working with DN-S3700, SC2900, SC3900 decks.

Lads lads lads

I’m also waiting for the answer to the question asked by @djstevieray

About the USB specs on the machines let me muddy the water a bit…I could be wrong don’t quote me.

I think it’s the USB Hub that’s 3.0 on the Denon devices that has blue port and the bigger USB cable socket.

The Rockchip RK3288 processor supports USB 2.0 speeds according to its spec sheet.

A benefit of having 3.0 usb on the hub is faster transfer of files from a computer to storage drives connected to the usb ports. A use case is using sync manager to transfer files to a drive that’s connected to player USB port directly.

That’s the spec sheet from the manufacturers website

USB 3.0 blue double port is soldered directly to the motherboard, I think there is a serial to usb conversion happening there, to make up for lack of native 3.0 support. There is a build in usb 3.0 hub as standard in many RK3288 board iterations.

@Homeland101 I’m not going to argue about library sizes. My primary playback is a 512GB SD with about 10k tracks on it. My online planner and two pre wedding consultations are very thorough I assure you. But that doesn’t stop a bride from coming up during the gig and say “hey play Lidell Townsend - Nu Nu next” and I have to disappoint her by saying not possible, or the Brides father asking for Loggins and Messina - Down at Pooh Corner because he used to sing it to her as a little girl. AgainI had to leave an important client disappointed. I don’t like to ever disappoint a client especially when I have those tracks at home. I’ve been doing this for 4 decades and have collected an “obscene” amount of music. I feel I should have a way to access those tracks. I was trying to come up with a way.

@Pasha if I was going to carry a second prime go. I would save the space and weight and go back to carrying my MacBook Pro.

@mufasa @NoiseRiser thanks for the valuable information.

That’s why I use a streaming service as a backup to my core library for that odd random request. not sure where you are from but in the UK (Scotland specifically) I have never had a venue that doesn’t have a GSM data signal or in-house wifi.

I’m in rural Pennsylvania. We have a venue we work at a lot on a farm. No cel service no WiFi. I have another old venue which has walls that block cel service and they have WiFi. But very low quality and once guests get on there is no service for anybody. I have run into a few other rural barn weddings with no WiFi or cel service available.

Also take into account things like New Year’s Eve when tidal went down. Also Spotify was down across the east coast for a day last week. Can’t always count on those services.

I know it’s old fashioned, but no is also an answer. If you can’t have all tracks in the world with you, then so be it.

And better than playing some unprepared unheard of crap which is full of swearing, off-beat beats, surprise instrumental breakdowns etc.

From a marketing point of view, advertise you have a 75,000 track collection (and those blinkered “DJs” about to offer the always hilarious admission of ignorance of “you don’t need more than 80 tracks cause it’s only a 4 or 5 hour gig” can remain silent. ) … with the 75,000 tracks but mentioned, if someone asks for some tune that you haven’t got. then it’s fine… you never said you had every track, you only mentioned 75,000

Got it. Sell the Denon gear because it doesn’t fit my workflow and company needs and go back to using a laptop.

The problem with Engine is that everything is a workaround or just missing altogether. My Prime Go plus is a great piece of kit physically but its held back by the software.

I still use VDJ and a laptop for 90 percent of my gigs.

Ok then, bye.

I’m believing the story less and less

You forgot Felicia :sob:

I didn’t say it’s not a great product. I love DJing on the Go and the 4. They are incredible at what they do. They just don’t do everything I need to run my business at the standards I wish. I may continue using them and use VDJ, but I honestly prefer the DDJ-1000 when using a laptop.

Oh how I wish these devices had SoCs that had enough oomph to query the DBs with realtime responses upon input. That and no no animation Jank :sob:
