@NoiseRiser brings it to a good point. The medium you play on is mostly irrelevant, the story fitted to the setting counts.
But i saw an interview with David Guetta (cant belive i write here his name :D) had a good approach. There are now two kinds of “DJs” or “Sets”
First, the Entertainer (Anyma, David himself …) big production and screens, its more a visual light show, like the light exhibits that pop up everywhere. Music or especially dancing is not the main focus.
Second, the “classic” DJ that brings you a party. Dancing, perfect soundsytem and barely talking on the dancefloor.
Depending what you want you change your approach.
There are of course some hybrids. Belgium has some, the guys from KompassKlub give you a big production and massiv lightshows, while having a focus on dancing.
