After the app was open:

After I closed the app and reopened it, no chance to get it running again. I have to restart my MacBook.

And when I run the script after the restart and try the app afterwards, no chance as well to get it to work.

Damn, yeah looking for that successful connection again haha hopefully we can get it and see that output, basically hoping that shows us where we fail so we can debug a specific spot in the discover method of the go listener.

Thanks for debugging!

Another set of debug scripts for yā€™all, just more print statements. Please post your output if you can, thanks!

the main.go I cobbled still works but is set up to spit out a load more text files currently

EDIT: I see what itā€™s doing - itā€™s looking for the 1st deck thatā€™s got itā€™s fader at 100% and logging that and on each ā€œ100%ā€ itā€™s then logging this as the next playing track - in this case fader 1 and 2 were both 100% but only deck 2 had a track playing - deck 1 was empty

also yes if you put the fader to 100% on any deck as long as thatā€™s the only 100% fader it shows that deck as ā€œnow playingā€ even if the play button is paused / stopped - itā€™s doing this on the latest debug.exe

the one shipped with unbox only logged the 1st track - didnā€™t update after attempting various track loads / unloads / fader moves

EDIT EDIT: the one thatā€™s shipped with unbox seems to break out the discovery loop as soon as it loads and doesnā€™t go back into it

awesome thanks for posting this, yeah you can ignore the exe shipped with unbox right now, it doesnā€™t work as expected on prime 4. weā€™ll bring in the play state for the next version which should prevent false reporting on track load / not played. actually iā€™ll post a debug script for that here in a bit so we can test that out.

still not sure why this is working on windows, but not on mac hmmm really wish i had some denon gear to test this on my network haha

i just tested the mac test script (from two hours ago) and it works on my mac fine iā€™m running a 2013 macbook air - 10.15.6 - ran it wired and wireless with both online go-stagelinq/WiredOSXTest at master Ā· djswolf/go-stagelinq (github.com)

go-stagelinq/WifiOSXTest at master Ā· djswolf/go-stagelinq (github.com) is the output

That last script (two hours ago) seems to have given me some zeros in the log now.

oh nice, thanks for posting the output. yeah @MrWilks it seems like your device just isnā€™t discoverable on your network? I assume the prime 4 os is up to date? and it seems to be connected to the internet and working as it should standalone?

@erikrichardlarson

Interesting. Upgraded recently to 1.6 when it went live last week. I may try and roll back to the previous 1.5.2 and see if that makes a difference.

It is up to date (V1.6) and connected to the internet. I can download Beatport, Dropbox and Beatsource files. All standalone features work as expected. I tried with cable and wireless and still have nothing. Hmmmm. Super strange.

I tried the Prime 4 on V1.5.2 and that was still the same.

@MrWilks Alright thought here, what is the state of your decks when youā€™re trying to discover them? I wonder if a track needs to be playing for the device to be discovered? Iā€™m not great with networking, but given weā€™re just reading packets on the network this could make sense haha idk want to give that a try?

go-stagelinq/listener_nonwindows.go at master Ā· djswolf/go-stagelinq Ā· GitHub should have been preventing the ā€œaddress already in useā€ message from happening, which implies thereā€™s a different flag that needs to be enabled here, probably SO_REUSEPORT. I need to set myself up with a test macOS or something like that to test it properly but I can already give updating the code with it a try and see if it compiles later.

It could be that this is indeed an issue. I know from research while I was writing the library code that, at least on Windows, UDP broadcasts (used to announce devices on the StagelinQ network) may not be going out via all network cards by default, however I was unable to confirm this on my own Windows computer as of right now. Also, so far I only understood this to be an issue on Windows, not sure if macOS has issues with it, too. Linux seems to handle it well anyways.

where do I find this output?

out of curiosity those with the Mac issues - have you installed a 3rd party network blocking app such as radio silence or little snitch? are they running?

also is IGMP Snooping: Enable Snooping Mode: Allow

enabled on the router as this is needed for UDP multicasting

also on the router can you see the prime4 listed? image here the top one is the Wi-Fi address and the bottom one is the wired

Iā€™ll check this out. I donā€™t have any blocking software installed but do have a browser blocker (Wipr) set to ā€œonā€ in the Extensions area.

I canā€™t see it being that though but can try turning it off. Iā€™ll also check the router. Strange how a few Mac users have had some (although limited) success.

Interestingly I have SoundSwittch (not powered up though) and you have to turn off WiFi when using that. It is connected via the Ethernet connection only or it doesnā€™t work.

The command prompt should appear and you should see output there that you can copy or screenshot, lmk if that doesnā€™t work.

so ā€¦ back again ā€¦ will now check the new code.

as I can say ā€¦ it loggs good xDDDD ā€¦ but a bit to much date for my oppinion xDDD All fader movements are recorded or recocgnized by your code.

the track id which was faded in at lasst will be displayed.

it doesnt recognize cue state. so, if the track is not playing, but fader moved up, it also change the title to that track. I donĀ“t see that any playstate is logged.

how do i insert the scrollable list view ?

it doesnā€™t seem to work, tho I have some important NEWS!

WINDOWS: I opened command prompt first and ran the unbox_denon_poller.exe and now it works I can see both players and the mix Tracks are changing upon sliding the fader upwards. and it works 100%

Seems to be working on UNBOX app by itself as well. No idea how but it works after last main.exe you sent. Hope it stays this way
