SC6000 Sound Quality

Traktor is the same the only difference is that laptops require latency. Standalone decks now have the task of doing it with bare minimum latency.

Traktor only claims bit transparency under constraints.

The discussions are not only isolated to denon

It wasn’t 2017 when this was first raised. I am losing sense of all time, but it was the end of 2018 early 2019 in my mind (wasn’t it Reticulli that raised it first?)

yes, it wasn’t mentioned right after the release but the problem did exist from day one.

But that’s the point - no one actually spotted/made mention of this for over a year. Everyone was fine with it, until it was mentioned and then it became an issue. Which could be argued is the placebo effect.

Could this have to do with cohort of first adopters. It’s not like everyone had 3 grand lying about.

Then they had the sales then more folks jumped on meaning a more diverse expectation and experience.

For the first year or so, I rarely played in standalone due to beatgrid and bpm challenges, I used the decks with serato.

If Denon can provide an option for the audiophiles amongst us (even if they will lose timestretch smoothness) it’s alright by me.

I for one will keep using the standard feature and I have key lock turned on permanently

Remember back when we used to have keylock quality settings? Those was the days!

Different algorithms for different qualities. Bring back that option maybe? In other software it was usually marked “economy/less CPU usage” or something like that.

Audiophile mode at 0% with keylock off seems a win for me.

I would love the ability to disable post audio processing. Most of the music I mix is within 3% of each other anyway.

reading the topic before posting a reply usually is a good idea:

You might as well get rid of it now and buy a pair cdj 3000/2000nxs or stick with Traktor.

why? no harm in waiting for 1.6. and a 3000 would be stupid since these convert to 96khz internally as well. one of the nexus models or the xdj 1000 mk2 would be the logical choice.

i’ve never been a traktor user and have no intentions in becoming one.

Too many posts to remember that far back, what are we on now, 128?

Still doesn’t account for the person that raised it, only raising it 18 months after buying them

well no idea why it hasn’t been reported sooner but i can think of many more reasons than my 4 examples.

anyway it doesn’t matter. the problem still exists now and that’s what matters.

If this was done, they should tie in the key so that the algorithm changes the key field as the pitch increases. That wouldn’t even need any processing, just simple maths based on the pitch position (is it a semi tone every 3%, something like that).

Not sure I’d go back to changing the sound from the original by moving the pitch, I like hearing the sounds as the producer intended, always find it weird now when I go to a vinyl night and hear a track I know well played pitched up or down, but everyone has their own priorities and I do get it if you can hear the difference; suppose it’s like the old magic eye pictures, once you can see it (hear it), you can’t unsee it (unhear it).

Thank God for blowing my ears out at Cream all those years ago I say :joy::joy:

So here my results with a 24bits 96KHZ white noise for testing with the analog output Denon SC6000.

Condition of the test : Adobe Audition Fabfilter Q3 Audient ID44 for the soundcard and recording sample.

1first picture is the original wav test. As you can see we don’t see any cut off or roll off filter above 20khz.

Second picture we have a slight roll off up to 20khz ( maybe less than -0.5db) and -2db up to 22khz

The test was interesting and sadly i can’t test the digital output with my gears (toslink only)

these values would actually be good. unfortunately nobody else including myself got similarly nice results.

Well I can post a video of the process if you don’t believe it Denon SC6000 directly in the analog input of the audient and a legit white noise in high resolution

I can’t say too much maybe it’s the next firmware 1.6 and some audio tweak :zipper_mouth_face:
