Prime 4 plus - in way over my head

Thanks again!

I got my Prime 4+ (P4P) last night. Got my musac loaded on an SSD. It appears that I must create playlists to have my track analized. I was hoping that they could be analized within their file folders. That’s alright, I just have to learn the structure of how things are organized on this beast.

I can’t lie, I want to get into it all. I know I’ll keep it simple, and mostly automatic to begin with. That didn’t stop me from watching a couple videos about scratching and trying to chop some audio with the fader. (sorry I have no idea what this is truely called).

Then I messed around a bit with the Beat Grid, and setting some loops. I can’t wait to start learning it all and the different ways to put it all together!

The best thing to do with your music is organise it in Engine desktop first of all, create all your playlists, analyse it etc, then use the sync manager to load it to the SSD. you can do this with the Prime 4 in computer mode.

You can also line up all your beat grids and set cue markers etc in the desktop app.

Hello and welcome  What I can recommend is to always keep Engine DJ and your Prime up to date. You don’t have to download the update on the first day, but try to always stay up to date.

I’m a firm believer in updating the firmware out of the box, if one is available.

Let’s do it. I’m already thinking about sampling some patches for scratching!

I uploaded a 9 minute patch and shared here:

Spend some time organizing your music files on the PC/Laptop

I find that consolidating files in one folder eg “DJ MUSIC” is the best approach. you can have subfolders in the DJ Music folder.

Makes it easier down the line when you want to replace the laptop/pc

Good Day, My experience that has save me a ton of headaches:

  1. ALWAYS read the manual for whatever product you have before operating it.
  2. You may want to check out the Lexicon Library management software for professional DJs. Made by DJs who care. Made by the community.

Peace and Happy Spinning!!!
