Are Soundcloud previews looking weird for anyone else? Turning up all tall and thin for me

Yeah same on my browser too.

Scrolling back, it looks like a lovely “feature” of discourse (or sound cloud?) and has to do with the shortened link (mostly provided by the mobile app):

testing…

Characteristically excellent testing there, cheers dude. Will try to remember not to use the short link (spoiler: I will definitely not remember)

Yeah let’s hope @djliquidice never returns to the dark side, who will find all this stuff out for us

Tech House set

One from the archives here, i found an old CD i recorded in 2004. It was around the time Ingrosso, Axwell, Guetta and co were moving away from vocal house to that more electro sound that eventually became EDM. Jon Carter had also mixed an ‘Acid house reborn’ CD for the Mixmag cover which is an absolute banger, this influenced my move into a tougher, more techy sound, along with going to see DJs like Steve Lawler, Choo Choo and Jose Nunez.

I was only 23 when i mixed this, on a CDJ-800, 2 x CDJ-1000 mk3, a 1210 and a DJM-600 at my Mums house. The mixing is a bit rough as i switched between vinyl and CDs, no quantize on these decks and all loops were done manually. A few accapellas in there too.

Just clicked on it, the start words… nostalgia mode ON :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hahaha very much so, the B side to Choo Choo’s ‘beats volume 2’ with the acapella and 8 locked grooves.

Wooo.. manual loops. I don’t miss refining start/stop points at all XD

Good core skills though aren’t they, nailing that timing became so useful over time with cue pads etc… i got to the point where i can start a track open fader and have it lined up, all thanks to the hours of perfecting the timing on those loops. Still quite brave doing it at a gig though with people watching lol.

IMHO, that’s what we called “the job” back in the day. Stuff we had to do.

I love automation, and kids these days do lack some of these critical skills (like driving stick shift). :frowning:

That stick shift thing is a weird concept in the UK, as 99.9% of people learn to drive manual cars, and a massive portion of them will drive them…i get the comparison though, im on auto now but im not keen from a driving POV, its convenient but boring

You’re right though, we didnt know any better did we, being able to live loop was a game changer at the time.
