Gives me no pleasure to say this, but I think MP3 plays better with this ecosystem than lossless files. For one, the link has a 270MB limit you’re never going to reach with MP3 files. Lossless files, particularly FLAC, can come off as even more weirdly dynamically compressed, mildly phase & inter-modulation distorted, and like someone has tried to double the volume by just adding the same data twice with the second copy a few bits offset in its clock rather than multiplying all the samples by 2. Finally, lossless files have a more extended bandwidth into the highs, and therefore are more likely to cause aliasing foldback distortion from the measured poor quality, computationally-efficient, early, but still leaky & deficient low-pass anti aliasing filtering in the digital signal processing. Maybe the former issues are actually just the latter issue, though. I think playing MP3s on rival brands actually sounds as good or better than lossless files on Denon DJ Prime’s Engine OS.
Thank you for that. I have started to favor m4a just cause of file size. I’ll test more out with some lossless files I have.
After the v5 update my system now really hangs a lot of the time when adding a new track but I see everyone has that issue now.
