WARNING: from VDJ Developer
I hate to brake the news, but at this point we feel that we need to **warn** our users to **wait and not buy the Prime 4 G2** if they care about using it with VirtualDJ.
InMusic (Denon) claims that support for computer software is coming “soon” However, at this point, we, as VirtualDJ developers, don’t even have a firmware that supports computer MIDI mode to work with.
In other words, we are stuck at waiting inMusic to get ready to release a firmware that will support MIDI, and afterwards we can start working on integration. This means that “soon” is not that soon..
We don’t know how much time inMusic will need to prepare the firmware. We do know (can estimate within a safe margin) how much time we will need to finish the integration after the release of that firmware. We also don’t know how much time inMusic will need to test/verify/confirm our integration and fix any possible bugs on their side.
So, at this point we don’t feel that “soon” is a correct term, rather than “some time in the next few months”
Therefore, if you plan to buy a Prime 4 G2 with the intention to use it with VirtualDJ, please be warned that support may not come soon after all, and that we cannot do anything about it.
I would advise not to buy the RS1 either for same reason above.

Thank you for your post. Finally some genuine information. I’m still failing to understand why InMusic just can’t be honest with us and this needed to come from (indirectly) a VDJ developer. But then, it was the same with Stems on the P4+… “Look what it can do in Beta” - then NOTHING - until it was completely re-written. InMusic. if you want to keep your customers, be honest when making mistakes. Communicate with your customers. Us buying your products keeps you in a job, remember that. I love my P4 and RS1, but for ■■■■■ sake, customers will respect you more if you just admit that pushing the technical boundaries sometimes means getting it wrong. Yes, we’ll be frustrated, but not as much as this “burying you head in the sand - and hoping it goes away” petulant mentality…

I can think of several but the most likely one is, supported by the fact that current device firmware lacks MIDI, is that inMusic wants to force DJ software buyers to use the standalone capabilities in order to convert as many as possible users to Engine.

Force buyers?! It’s a standalone device!
Just like the previous Prime range, and other products that use EngineOS, the main purpose of the device above all else is to be a standalone system.
That’s how they’re advertised. That’s how they’re demonstrated in videos. That’s the main selling point. The choice to buy it or not is entirely yours.
I would certainly hope that people are smart enough to realise that, and if they’re not then Denon are hardly to blame. They’ve shown what it is. They’ve shown what it does. make your own decision. Be sensible.

I think you’re all missing the point. InMusic ‘dangled this carrot’ of OmniSource to get more sales. Make no bones about it. Then didn’t deliver. I love the RS1, don’t get me wrong, but I wouldn’t have bought is knowing what I know now. The promise of “first quarter 2026” support (their words) did it as I was having (still unresolved) issues with my P4+. Stupid me for trusting them to keep their word…

@Alejandro_Mavarez Sorry to say but I have zero Info, but base upon the recent Djay pro support, VDJ shouldn’t be that far away.
