Hello,
I often add music to local folders on my PC, and when I try to access it in Engine DJ PC, every time I open the folder, the tracks are imported and take a very long time.
When I go to another folder and then back to the one I just imported, it imports again, and it takes even longer for all the tracks in the folder to finally appear…
It’s incredibly annoying, and this software has been driving me crazy ever since I started using it, I have to admit…
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
So now, in addition to the long loading time that keeps recurring despite the analysis, there’s a new problem with missing traces… I’m fed up with this software, I really don’t understand it… Everything works perfectly on Traktor…
Can you provide where you have the folders and how they’re organized?
Are they in one central folder or spread in different folders or multiple drives or partitions?
FYI: I have +90k music files on a external SSD with folders nested within folders within folders. It takes about 15 sec-30 sec for the collection to fully show up in Engine Desktop and about 2-3 seconds on my external hardware. Once loaded there’s very little lag jumping between playlists.
Engine Desktop is probably the most basic prep software out there, but there’s always a learning curve. Let’s try to help you.
So, I have an Asus ROG laptop with two hard drives (a primary one, C:, and a secondary one, D:). My music is in a folder I named “music” on the D: partition.
And in that folder, all my music is neatly organized into subfolders by genre, and that’s it.
I often add music to my folders, and it’s really annoying to have to wait so long to find the music I added, and then (if I even see it, because sometimes it doesn’t appear…) transfer it to my Engine DJ collection, and then to my hardware…
Yes, I’ve already run Run Cleanup several times, but nothing changes.
My process for adding music to my collection (when the track actually shows up in Engine DJ…) is to drag and drop it into the Engine DJ collection, but even that seems silly because sometimes I download a lot of music at once and save it to my computer folders beforehand, and I’d like it to be directly in my Engine DJ collection too… it’s complicated…
