Phaser isn’t something I use personally but there’s lots of interesting information on the Wiki page about it.
I’m no tech nerd admittedly and don’t full understand some of this stuff, but it reads like there could be a few different reasons why the overall volume might be dropping when applying it.
Perhaps try some other effects to see if you think they also do it, more common ones like flanger, echo, delay etc…. Also play around with the parameters on phaser to see if it minimises it.
This is definitely an issue. I find the same volume drop with Flanger also. It’s been reported numerous times, but no resolve has ever come about. On Pioneer Systems I have never noticed audio drops using FX like on Denon gear. I don’t think it will be fixed and I hope that future gear won’t be affected by this.
The thing is, don’t take one persons blind comment of “I don’t tho they’re gonna fix it” as some kind of en-halo’d, gold-plated testimonial that any particular issue will never get fixed
A key fact is that InMusic release between 3 and 5 firmware updates per annum - and have done through every year since primes launch - sometimes the fixes have been prioritised to things which affect all users, such as database search speed… other fixes have included lesser known, lesser used, lesser widespread noticed items.
Slowly but surely, InMusic get through a lot of firmware updates. Sure, everybody wants their fix to be queue-jumped to the front of the firmware update fixes - but not everyone can be first - there is a good chance it’ll get looked at at some point. Until then, enjoy manually winning the challenge of balancing the channel level with the fx levels - it’s all part of DJing after all
Well I absolutely agree that it’s all part of DJing but the effects just seem a little off at moment when in standalone mode.
It has nothing to do with the channel gains doesn’t matter what level I play at as it just pulls the overall volume down enough to be a pain.
And of course I agree about fixes coming steady but fixes being sorted in order of importance but as it is at the moment some of the effects are not worth using.
I have used Denon gear since my first dn-2000f so so many years ago, every time I have upgraded Denon gear has been a huge part of my rigs , I still have my dn-hd2500 set up and its still going strong. Just want the prime 4 to be as amazing as it should
No matter what os version I have installed I still have the wet/dry volume drop issue.
Previously other people have mentioned that I am using it incorrectly, hmm
Applying the affect to a live track with wet/dry completely at dry, slowly moving it across to wet, even before any effect is heard the volume drops, so much that pretty making the effects unusable.
Fx tend to work best if the channel faders are around 75% up their travel, and general signal input being just occasionally triggering the medium/high crossover LEDs.
I run with the faders and gain as above and don’t experiece any volume dips when using effects
Sound volume change is noticeable, it used to “keep” same level of volume as played track - obvisuouly it all depends how you use the filter, settings of the filter , and when you enabling it.
Yeah I still have two at home, don’t take them out anymore, people used to say to me, wheres all your music? Back in the day they were so ahead of the time
Well not really. I’m sure it came out 2006/2007 but I has already been using a laptop to DJ with since 1999. Great concept though and reliable as all denon products were back then.
