Hi… actually i use a MCX8000 linked to Serato on the deck 1 and 2, and i have another inputs (sounds of video, iphone for backup) ditectly connected to channel 3 and 4. The MCK800 has a switch to choose (PC, Engine, Line) forch each of the for channels.
I would like to upgrade my setup by purchaisng e Prime 4. The question is
is it possible to use Serato on the 2 main channels (PC input) and use the other channels with external input, without using channel 3 and 4 with serato (i don"t see the switch on the Prime 4).
Hope you understand my question
Thanks for your answer.
Fred
I can also help, even without owning a Prime 4.
You can definitely NOT use Serato and standalone on the same time. You can’t even do a soft-switchover. You need to REBOOT the entire unit when switching to “computer mode”. Afaik external sources are also cut-out during that process for a few seconds, at least for the SC Live 2 and 4, but maybe this doesn’t apply for the Prime units, which would be good (could use a smartphone or CDJ/TT to bridge the gap).
It is one major weakness compared to the MXC8000 for sure and it is sad, that they didn’t consider that when engineering their new architecture. In my case I don’t mind that much, because I use Serato (for complex weddings, many music requests) and Standalone (for small bars/clubs, or just 4 fun) at completely different use case scenarios.
Thanks… i have the same use cases of you… sometimes standalone for afterworks, bar, small events, and with serato for weddings, big parties, … it’s better to have a big screen on a computer for me in the second case.
I know that with the MCX8000 there is a minimum of effects, and we need to have serato… with the prime, effect are more efficients
But it’s important for me to have serato plus other inputs for big events.
No, but what you CAN do is use the line inputs when using DJ software in controller mode - at least you can with VirtualDJ so I assume Serato is no different. The line inputs still work when in controller mode. They’re not standalone only.
PKtheDJ… how the prime 4 knows that the Music he has to play deck 3 per example is the line and not the channel 3 of serato? is there a priority,?
on the MCX8000 there is a switch… no problem for this…
Great… i think that when you use serato (USB), instead Engine, all Engine channels are replaced by Serato but with these switchs (i dind’nt see) you can force line instead USB/Engine… Nice! that’s what i wanted to know…
and it’s better than MCX8000 because MCX8000 allow only 2 engine decks, the other are PC/line (good for mixing 4 channels with Serato)
