Your setup: Prime GO+ w/ Firmware 5.0.1 and Engine DJ 5.0 on Windows 11, SD Card Library
-
The need: bi‑directional sync of playlists names and track information between SD/hardware and Engine DJ Desktop. Currently we can only sync playlists from Engine DJ to SD card. But I want to be able to create playlists on my Prime GO+ AND have that synced back to my master library on the laptop.

Why: portable prep away from laptop, I use the GO+ as a true prep device, not just performance. I often use playlists as part of my preparation for gigs and this mainly happens on the Prime GO device itself as that is where I’m prepping the tracks with cues and loops and all the rest of it. Why can’t Sync Manager sync the playlist information back to Engine DJ library? They are just directory pointers to the music files, seems this should be easy to implement bi-drectionally. Why is this information so different from cues and loops etc.?
What do you mean friend? The Engine on the desktop does exactly what you are asking for here!
Have you ever noticed that when you plug a memory card used in prime go into the desktop engine, in the synchronization part, a “SYNCHRONIZE TO ENGINE DJ” button appears below the card?
Hey there, unfortunately you are wrong. Yes, of course I’m aware of the Sync to Engine DJ, as my post references syncing hot cues and loops etc. bidirectionally. My post is specifically about Playlists. If you create a playlist on your device (in my case the Prime GO+) you cannot sync that playlist back to the collection in the Engine DJ software on your computer. You can’t even manually drag it from your SD/USB drive to the local collection within your software. So, no, Engine DJ software does not al all do what I’m asking for here. Hence the feature request.
My friend, you’re absolutely right, and for years I didn’t realize something, because most of the time I use my EXTERNAL SSD, since I find it easier to remove it from the device and plug it into the PC than to connect the device to the PC’s USB port, as it’s far from the PC!
The problem is that every time I opened Engine DJ, the external SSD was plugged into the PC, and due to a totally questionable decision by the DEVS, Engine DJ shows in the library only what’s on the external drive!!
I tested it here by removing the drive and the playlists disappear!!! RIDICULOUS!!! How can such a decision be made!? Now I’m really angry!
You would have to move the post to the “New/Open Requests” category in order to receive votes!
ah, thanks for the tip. Cheers! Sorry to make you angry
I kind of understand what they are thinking here. The Engine DJ software is the MASTER Library of playlists etc. You can select which playlists you want to move across to the SD/USB/External Drive using the sync manager. This makes sense as you might not want or need all of your music/playlists in the MASTER Library on the external drive for a gig or whatever. And it makes sense to me now, that if the SD/USB is considered a SLAVE Library, then changes to the playlists should not be synced back. Otherwise, if you only had a partial Library of playlists on the SD/USB, then it might think you are trying to erase playlists on the Engine DJ MASTER Library as it is a sync operation. So I don’t think it should be a “sync back to Engine DJ” option. That makes sense.
BUT, I DO think we should be able to manually drag the playlist from our SD/USB collection inside the Engine DJ software over to the MASTER Engine DJ collection and have it populate the MASTER Library. This seems like a trivial thing to implement.
