# Engine connect over wifi?

Is it possible to use Engine Connect via WIFI… have a router that is connected to SC5000s by wifi, and plugged into x1850 by ethernet. I believe its possible to sync via ableton link this way, but can we use engine connect too? or do they need the wired ethernet cables?
