Connecting an SC5000 to a standalone Prime 4

Hi all,

I’ve had a Prime 4 for almost a year now and recently purchased an SC5000. I use a 1TB hard drive in the Prime 4 to store all my music (used 100% in standalone mode) and had no problem connecting the SC5000 via the link port. However, I can’t get the Prime 4 to recognize the SC5000 on decks 3/4 of the mixer.

I have two questions:

  1. Can the ‘USB Out’ port on the SC5000 be used into the Prime 4 - similar to the way the LC6000 works?
  2. If not, when using the ‘Line Out’ port on the SC 5000, will I run into the old issue of Prime 4 mixer effects not working on the SC5000 channel?

If there is an easier way to do all of this than the two scenarios above, please correct me.

  1. No, SC5000 will not control the Prime 4.
  2. Not sure - connect it and try.

The best is to connect the SC5000 to line IN and set one channel to line IN (for example channel 3) so Then You will have Hands on control on the SC5000 instead of switching between deck 1/3. For FX You can always connect an external FX between SC5000 and Prime 4. So the FX unit will be exclusively running for SC5000 only.
