Cant eject laptop from Denon Prime 4

Everytime i transfer my music from engine prime on my laptop to my prime 4 controller the laptop software stops me from ejecting the drive saying its still in use even though the task has finished. It doesnt matter how long i wait it doesnt allow me to disconnect. How do i fix this as it was working fine earlier in the year and since the last 2 updates i am having nothing but issues in disconnecting.

Close Engine dj and then eject. Engine dj is holding the drive.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried to close it and it says it cant because it is currently running a task. If i eject during whatever task it is doing in the background even though it says export completed it then deletes the new transfer of music. I have found if i run the export a second time and pull the cable at the end because it wont eject then it transfers the 1st export attempt. But this is not healthy for the prime 4+ internal hardrive

Salute @Ashley_Rendall ,

after updating onto EngineDj Desktop 5.0.0, did the database upgrade job finish successfully?

And what OS are you using?

Two weeks ago I had to sync twice to get my new files on the device, but i rather suspect a mistake of my own.

As long I don’t have e.g. a File-Browser with containing files selected, ejecting the device on Windows 11 works on my PC.

Hi im using the latest version on my decks which installed today. I was hoping there was a fix in this update but sadly not. Everything was fine earlier in the year but since the last updates 2 months ago it all changed. Im using windows 11 on my laptop. No other folders open

Sorry to hear things not working out for you, i am very happy about engine os 5.0.4.

Maybe you could try this:

Open engine desktop software without the Prime4 connected. Select all files and re-import track informations.

if I remember right, this ensures all album-images are taken off the database and will be written as separate files on your pc.

Now start your Prime in PC-Mode and format your internal drive. Try to sync again.

still happy fryday

If engine dj hangs on when closing, usually the culprit is the album art. Delete the track covers and try again. It should improve significantly.

Thanks for the reply. However it hasnt fixed the issue. Everything was working fine until the 2nd to last update. Since then nothing but issues in exporting to prime 4+. Nothing wrong with the external hardrive in the prime 4. But with the laptop being unable to disconnect im concerned about corrupting the prime 4 hard drive.

It looks like there are some issues within the local data base then. Seems like they keep the engine dj process running and occupying the drive.

Hm @Ashley_Rendall , I’m running out of ideas  the last you could try is a cleanup.
