Beat Grid 2026?!

Hi! I’m sure this isn’t a new topic…but… Will it be possible to have Flexible Grids in Engine in the future? It’s really a key aspect in 2026. Thanks

Can’t guarantee it will be this year but i would like to think it is a feature that will arrive at some point

The beat grid is already flexible. You can set anchor points and lock the beat grid before the anchor, then change the tempo behind it, set another one and change the tempo again - this allows, that in one music file you can have different speeds in different parts of the track.

Yes it’s flexible - but like Traktor and the previous version of VirtualDJ, it all has to be done manually, which is extremely slow and tedious.

Algoriddim’s djay Pro analyses and follows varying tempos instantly, and it’s uncannily accurate. VirtualDJ now also does it automatically (currently at the click of a button, but soon to be spontaneous). Rekordbox joined the party a short while ago too.

The TL;DR of it is, we shouldn’t need to be doing this manually any more.

I imagine if this update does come to engineos it’ll only be with the newer hardware like the rane system one and future products.

If it does come to engine at some point it needs to let us set the first marker then let us right click on the marker & choose analyze from here.

A bit like how ableton works when warping tracks because if you can’t set the first beat then it’ll just mess up any long instrumental intros with no beats just like rekordbox does which starts off at roughly 40 bpm & slowly increases up to 165-172 when it eventually detects the first beat (normally about a minute into the track).

Moin @AndyC ,

thanks a lot for your reply and your vote.

From my side no objections to spend all 10 token, but I think there are restrictions and to abolish these, you have to approach Denon directliy *lol*

Let’S make some noise and enjoy Brgds BeatMaster

Moin @NoiseRiser ,

you are right. Since November 2021 (my first request) Denon amended a lot, but unfortunately the tool is not perfect and needs to be improved steadily.

And so it is our never ending story.

Let’S make some noise and enjoy the weekend Brgds BeatMaster

I reported reproducable issues with the beatgridding when I got my Prime Go+ in October 2024 and to my knowledge it’s still not been fixed.

Yes, let’s say it’s not a big deal, but since it’s 2026, we should hope… Obviously, it would be enough to have the Dynamic Grid in Engine and then import it to your USB… Let’s hope.

Yes, thank you. Ableton is my job…but we’re a long way from Djay Pro and VDJ for Grid and Stems… Hopefully in the future.

The new system in VDJ is a first (AFAIK) for DJ software, because not only will it follow variable tempo tracks, but once analysed they can be locked to a rigid tempo (aka warped).
